Faith and Trust in the Storm
Scripture: Matthew 8:23-27
In Matthew's account of Jesus calming the storm, we witness the disciples' fear in the face of a mighty tempest. Despite witnessing Jesus' miracles, their faith wavered as the storm raged around them. In life, storms will come that test our faith and obscure our spiritual vision, leading us to feel as if God is distant or silent. We might hold onto promises, yet struggle when they feel like they're sinking beneath the waves.
Like the disciples, we must remind ourselves of who we walk with—Jesus, the Lord over all creation. When the storms rage, and we feel vertigo from swirling circumstances, we can take refuge in knowing that the One who commands the seas is with us.
Prayer: Lord, when life is turbulent, help me to remember that You are with me, even when I cannot see beyond the waves. Strengthen my faith and grant me peace in the midst of the storm. Enable me to trust in Your promises, believing that You will calm my fears and guide me through safely to the other side. Amen.
