The Promise of Joy

Jesus tells the disciples that though they will experience sorrow when He dies, joy will follow. Just like a woman in labor forgets her pain when she holds her newborn, the disciples' sorrow will turn into uncontainable joy when they see Him again. This joy is deeper than temporary happiness—it is rooted in the resurrection of Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Life’s circumstances can lead to grief, but Jesus promises joy that surpasses it all. His resurrection brought eternal hope, and the Holy Spirit brings lasting joy that is not dependent on what happens around us.

Reflection: How do you define joy? Is it based on your circumstances, or is it something deeper? How can you experience this joy more fully in your life?

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for the joy You provide through Your resurrection and the Holy Spirit. Help me to experience this joy even in the midst of sorrow. May Your joy be my strength today. Amen.
