Purpose: Why are we Here?
“Purpose: Why are we Here?”
Its been said that the most important day in your life was the day you were born and the second was when you found out why. Last week we began a series of lessons on 7 Principles of success. Each of the next 7 weeks we will look at one of those principles.
This week’s principle is purpose. Why are we here? Purpose is necessary for success as you need to know what area you are trying to be successful. Purpose answers the question “why?”
It gives you direction, clarity, significance, and when accomplished, fulfillment.
How do you find it? Besides the more obvious answers of prayer, Bible reading and church, we find 3 basic avenues from Scripture.
1. Our stewardship- God is the owner of all things. We are the managers or stewards. We have been entrusted with, among many things, a stewardship of time, talent, gifts, experiences and opportunities. What do you do well? What do you enjoy doing? What positive and negative experiences have you had? What about your opportunities. God has spent your whole life building and shaping you for this moment.
2. Our heart- What sets you heart on fire? What could you accomplish this year that would bring you the greatest joy?
3. God’s revelation- what is God saying to your heart? Henry Blackaby has apply said, “ You never know the truth of any situation until you have heard from God.”
Proverbs 3:5,6 teaches us “ Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path”
Next week we look at preparation. Until then…
