The Gardener
Matthew 7:17-19 “ So every healthy tree bears good fruit…”
While the Gospel of John focuses on the metaphor of the vine, Matthew emphasizes the importance of bearing good fruit. Jesus makes it clear that our connection to Him determines the quality of the fruit we produce. A healthy relationship with Christ leads to good works and actions that reflect His love and grace in the world. We must be discerning about what we allow to grow in our lives. Just as a gardener prunes to promote growth, God may need to remove the unhealthy aspects of our lives to help us flourish.
Reflection: What kind of fruit are you bearing in your life? Are there areas that need pruning? Reflect on the things that may be hindering your growth and be open to God’s refining work.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for being the true vine and for the care You provide as the Gardener. Help me to bear good fruit that honors You. Show me the areas of my life that need pruning, and grant me the courage to let You shape me for Your purposes. May my life reflect Your love and produce a harvest for Your Kingdom. Amen.
