Leadership Principles of Jesus #3

“Leadership Principles of Jesus” #3 Purpose
What is your purpose in life? Why is it important? Jesus prioritized His life and ministry through the lens of His purpose. He said in Luke 19:10 “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which is lost.”
Purpose is important because:
      1. Purpose determines direction- It guides the choices we make
      2. Purpose leads to vision- It’s been said that vision begins with a compelling purpose, pursuing the purpose leads to problems and obstacles, then the vision becomes the answer to the problems.
      3. Purpose determines goals- Jesus’ goal of saving people lead Him to the cross. Without goals, determining priorities is impossible. Bob Beihl aptly said, “Prioritizing is simply deciding what you need to do next to move most effectively toward your goals.”
      4. Purpose leads to passion- Its easy to put what we have a passion for on the front burner.
Colossians 3:23 states “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord…”
In John 17: 4 Jesus says, “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.
So, what is your purpose? Stop, take a moment and ask the Lord. It will be the most important answer of your life.
