The Peace Jesus Gives
Reading: John 14:15-31 — “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you”
Devotional: God’s peace is a promise that transcends circumstances. In John 14:15-31, Jesus comforts His disciples by assuring them that the Holy Spirit will come as their Helper and bring peace unlike the world’s. This peace is not merely the absence of conflict but a deep, abiding calm rooted in God’s presence. When Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you,” He is offering a supernatural tranquility that guards our hearts and minds even amid trials.
This peace is linked to obedience and love. Jesus begins by saying, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” Our relationship with God is active and responsive. Obedience is not a burden but a path to experiencing His peace. When we align our lives with God’s will, we open ourselves to His calming presence.
The Holy Spirit, the Advocate, is given to guide, teach, and remind us of Jesus’ words. This divine companionship ensures we are never alone, even in the darkest moments. The peace Jesus offers is a gift that sustains us through anxiety, fear, and uncertainty.
Reflect today on areas where you need God’s peace. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill your heart. Trust that Jesus’ peace is with you, guarding your mind and soul. Let His presence calm your fears and strengthen your faith.
