Power: When Believing in Yourself is not Enough

“Power: When Believing in Yourself is not Enough”
If you already have the power to succeed, why pray? An entire generation has been told they could be anything they wanted to be- just believe in yourself! That generation has grown up and become a most disappointed and disillusioned generation. They have learned they cannot necessarily be popular, a great athlete, or a famous singer. They discovered their power was very limited. Where do we find the power? Psalms 62:11 tells us, “Once God has spoken; twice I have heard this; that power belongs to God.”
When a person receives Christ they are given the power to be saved from all their sin. The Spirit of Christ comes to live in their hearts and becomes that supernatural power in their lives. They have the power to live the Christian life and enjoy peace, hope, love and joy. In addition, we are given the power to accomplish God’s will for our lives. It’s not that we can do anything we set our minds to do, but whatever God sets His mind to do through us.
The key then is receiving Christ into our hearts and lives and then following Him.
Then we can claim the Scripture, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity, to give you a future and a hope.” Jer. 29:11
