The Lord Loves Justice
Scripture Reading Psalm 37:25-40
"Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.
For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed;
the offspring of the wicked will perish.
The righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever." - Psalm 37:27-29
When we think of justice today, we think of worthy ministries such as feeding the homeless. But there is another kind of justice in Scripture: the judgement of the wicked and the reward of the believer. We often wonder why the wicked seem to prosper and the righteous sometimes suffer. There is a day when accounts will be balanced. The Bible says, “Be sure your sin will find you out.” Galatians 6:7 teaches, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”
Though we should never rejoice in the demise of the wicked, we can be comforted that an all-powerful, just God is in control. We are exhorted to “wait on the Lord” (Ps. 37:9) and trust in Him. He will deliver us.
