Lean Not on Your Own Understanding
Reading: Proverbs 3 5,6
Devotional: Dependence on God is a daily journey of trusting His character above all else. The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 3 that we are to anchor our faith in who God is rather than what they see. This trust is the foundation for peace and confidence in every situation.
God’s character is defined by holiness, justice, mercy, and steadfast love. These attributes assure us that God’s decisions are always right and loving. When we depend on God, we acknowledge His wisdom surpasses ours and His plans are flawless.
Dependence means releasing our grip on control and embracing God’s sovereignty. It is a posture of humility and faith, recognizing that God is working behind the scenes for our good. Even when circumstances seem difficult, God’s character remains a sure foundation.
The Bible calls us to trust God with all our hearts and not lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). This command is an invitation to dependence—choosing to rely on God’s character rather than our feelings or logic.
When doubts or fears arise, remind yourself of God’s faithfulness. Dependence grows as we meditate on His promises and remember His past faithfulness. This trust transforms anxiety into peace and fear into courage.
Today, commit to deepening your dependence on God by focusing on His character. Let His unchanging nature be your refuge and strength. Trusting God fully is the key to experiencing His peace and joy in every season.
