Growing in Spiritual Discernment
Reading: 1 Corinthians 2: 6-16
Devotional: In 1 Corinthians, Paul points out that spiritual discernment is vital in overcoming spiritual vertigo. Discernment is the ability to distinguish God’s voice from distractions and false teachings that cause confusion. Without discernment, believers can be tossed by every new idea or emotional wave, losing their footing. Hebrews 5:14 says, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” Developing discernment requires daily practice—praying for wisdom, studying Scripture, and seeking godly counsel. When you sharpen your spiritual senses, you become less vulnerable to deception and more anchored in truth. Take time today to ask God for discernment. Reflect on areas where you feel confused and invite the Holy Spirit to clarify your understanding. As your discernment grows, spiritual vertigo loses its power over you.
