The Sacrifice of Jesus

The Old Testament sacrificial system pointed to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus. The high priest had to enter the Holy of Holies each year, offering the blood of an animal to temporarily cover sin. But this was insufficient. It was a shadow of what was to come.

Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, offered Himself as the final sacrifice for sin. His death on the cross made forgiveness of sins available to all, once and for all. His blood was shed to cleanse us from sin permanently. The perfect, sinless Son of God gave His life for us so that we could have peace with God.

Prayer:

Jesus, thank You for Your perfect sacrifice on the cross. Thank You for shedding Your blood to forgive my sins. Help me never to take for granted the price You paid for my salvation. Amen.
