God Never Changes
Reading: Hebrews 13: 5-8
Devotional: Dependence on God flows from a deep understanding of His character. The Bible teaches us that trusting God is not wishful thinking but a confident reliance on His nature—holy, just, loving, and faithful. When we grasp who God is, dependence becomes natural.
God’s character is revealed in His consistency. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). This means His promises are reliable, and His presence is constant. Dependence grows when we remember that God does not change with our circumstances or emotions.
Trusting God’s character also means embracing His sovereignty. He is in control, orchestrating every detail of our lives for His glory and our good. Even when we don’t understand the “why,” we can rest assured that God’s purposes are perfect.
Dependence is a daily choice to let go of self-sufficiency. It requires humility to admit we need God’s wisdom and power. The psalmist declares, “My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning” (Psalm 130:6). This waiting is active dependence—expecting God to act because of who He is.
When you face challenges, remind yourself that God’s character is your firm foundation. His love never fails, His justice is perfect, and His faithfulness endures forever. Dependence on God frees you from anxiety and fills you with peace.
Today, focus on God’s unchanging character. Let it shape your prayers, your decisions, and your outlook. Trusting God is not just about what He does but who He is—and that is enough.
